One of the most popular resolutions made every year is to lose weight, usually by eating healthier and working out. As New Year’s resolutions are either in full swing, or are dwindling down, meeting health and wellness goals can be a huge struggle in and out of the workplace. Companies are finding different approaches to keep their employees on the right track to a healthy lifestyle. Keeping them motivated can be the tricky part behind corporate wellness programs. More than 40% of all companies are now using incentive programs to help with employee participation. Results are showing that incentives are the most effective way to improving the health behind the workforce.
There are some controversies with these offered incentives due to the penalization of non-responsive employees. Reports are saying that incentives are playing a big role in the personal and private lives of employees. However, it is shown that an average of 25-30 dollars per worker a month is saved when using an operative wellness program. Incentives are proving to be a successful driver not only with the participation of employees, but saving companies funds in the long run.

Some of the most popular incentive programs include cash rewards, lower insurance premiums, discounted memberships, and corporately funded events.
To earn these cash rewards, employees are encouraged to complete health risk assessments and fulfill the corresponding goals associated with their results. Workers are also prompted to quit smoking, participate in fitness programs earning cash redeemable points , and show overall healthy progress. If incentives are what is needed to push Corporations in the direction of better personnel health and wellness, expect to see more rewards, incentives, and participation in the workplace.
